1. Art for Utility
With an intention to showcase the works of skilled artists and craftsmen, Ananda had organized a bazaar ‘Art for Utility’ in 2008. The idea was to bring forth artists and craftsmen across the erstwhile united A.P., giving them a platform to sell arts and crafts as lifestyle utility products and not for the sake of beauty alone.
The exhibition had artists from different walks of life, ranging from traditional craftsman, professional artist, amateur artists of caliber. The highlight of the event was the application of art and craft in academics, where it’s used to teach various subjects like Languages, Math, History & Geography, Sciences. Also books, arts and crafts work were displayed and demonstrations were done for the visiting public.
2. Plate To Planet
Edible Gardening will be the need of the hour, hence we launched the ‘Plate To Planet’ campaign to start edible gardening in schools. With support from the Harita Haaram program, an esteemed program by the Telangana Govt., we planted fruit trees, herbal saplings, sowed vegetable seeds and fruits. Government and Private schools participated in ‘The Plate to Planet initiative’ therefore raising awareness of Edible Gardening among children.
3. Year-long Clean Up Drive of Kothacheruvu Lake
At Ananda we have been very passionate about the environment which is why, we launched the Kothacheruvu lake clean-up campaign. In collaboration with 2 other NGOs – Kriti Social Initiatives and Udayan Care, we brought together volunteers on Sundays to participate in lake cleaning. The initiative also received great support from governmental authorities such as local corporators, MLA, GHMC and Police department.
4. Food and Grocery Kit Distribution during Covid19 crisis
The COVID 19 had devastated the livelihoods of many. As responsible citizens, we at Ananda, contributed to the community in our little way. We had distributed over 50,000 kgs of rations, in association with NGOs and ensured a smooth handling. Also we assisted the Telengana Social Impact Group (T – SIG) which is a Social Initiative of the Telangana Govt. Ananda has also undertaken a cashless donation drive and collected grocery items from donors which was later distributed to the needy, in particular the migrant workers.
5. Government School Adoption:
Our Government schools deserve sincere support and so we adopted a Government Primary School in BJR Nagar in Shaikpet Mandal. Volunteer teachers trained in holistic education conducted classes and imparted lessons to students and engaged them in fun activities. the focus was on Spoken English, Math (made easy and fun), Vocal Music, Science through Gardening, Yoga, Art and Handwork.
6. Year-long Workshops by Art of the Hearts
Our much-applauded initiative Art of Hearts was made with an intention to bring a series of value workshops at an affordable cost. We conducted value-workshops like:
- Movement as an art and therapy
- Folk Dance
- Art and Science of Compositing
- Art & Science of Edible Home Gardening
- Macrame for Utility
- Art of Sari Draping
- Music therapy
- Bollywood dancing
7. Osteopathy Camps
Ostepathy is a mode of treatment which is in its nascent stages in India. Ostepathy helps children with learning difficulties, and for adults it serves as a non-invasive intervention, to overcome suffering from a host of ailments affecting neuro physiology. Ananda has so far organized 7 camps by well-trained doctors and osteopaths who are renowned across the world. Students with epilepsy, autism, aspergers syndrome, motor skill problems, muscle tone problems etc, were immensely benefitted from the campaigns. Adults suffering from chronic pain, orthopedic ailments and also adults with vision problems
8. Village Adoption
We have adopted Chipalapally village in Kandukuri as we have partnered with the NGO Swashodhan trust, in cooperation with the Sarpanch. The schools in the village are given a rehaul with better classrooms, infrastructure, football grounds, badminton courts, etc.
